    Asian Tall Buildings report 2011
The Empire State Building where King Kong created mayhem may no longer be the world’s tallest building. But it did hold the record for an impressive 41 years from pre - world war 1931 to the unfortunate dawn of disco 1972.
  • James
Physical depreciation of tall buildings a massive financial burden
James Law, Chairman and Chief Cybertect of James Law Cybertecture speaks to Bryan Camoens on the growth of Tall Buildings in Asia, and how China is leading the way in developing these structures. He also gives his take on the challenges in the operation and maintenance of a tall building and gives his take on the tall building sector by the end of the decade
  • jun
Tall buildings in seismic areas - A safety and economic nightmare
Dr. Jun Yang, Associate Professor of Geotechnical Engineering for the University of Hong Kong discusses the deep foundational challenges facing tall buildings and high rise structures in Asia with Bryan Camoens. He also explains how technology can play a part by minimizing impact during the construction of deep foundations.
  • Stefan-Krummeck
Tall buildings will be more efficient and also more sustainable by 2020
Stefan Krummeck, Principal Director, of TFP Farrells is speaks to Construction IQ Editor on the operational and maintenance challenges facing the Asian tall building sector. He also talks about how TFP Farrells built a 439 meter building in Shenzhen which can withstand earthquakes of up to 7 on the Richter scale.

Asia’s rapid growth and urbanisation has led to the need for tall buildings and high-rise structures throughout the region. With 70% of the Chinese population to live in urban areas by 2035 and 50% already living in the cities, it’s no wonder that the country is increasingly looking at developing tall buildings and high-rise structures in the residential, commercial and mixed-use space to satisfy its increasing internal demand.

But China is not alone in this area. Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, as well as traditionally land scarce Hong Kong, are all looking at exploring the vertical space to overcome challenges in land acquisition, space and costs.

These countries are all at the forefront of this process, looking at building the tallest skyscrapers in the world, while focusing on the structural design challenges and requirements that these earthquake and typhoon prone areas impose.

Building on the success of our Tall Buildings Asia 2010, Tall Buildings Vietnam and Tall Buildings India conferences, IQPC is proud to present the Program for its new Tall Buildings Asia 2011 will focus on the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in the design, construction and operation of high-rise structures in Asia.

The conference will address all critical issues posed by tall buildings, from regulatory aspects to structural issues as well as latest and upcoming materials and technologies for the cost-effective design and construction of a tall building.

Attend Tall Buildings Asia this July, and you will:

  • Understand regulatory aspects and design solutions for the construction of tall buildings in seismic and typhoons prone areas
  • Get a thorough insight into new trends and technologies in tall buildings design
  • Appreciate innovative structural design solutions for high rise buildings
  • Learn best practice M&E processes for tall buildings
  • Assess optimal construction and project management strategies for tall buildings
  • Find out sustainable practices and solutions for the design, construction and operation of tall buildings
  • Discover evacuation strategies as well as fire and safety measures for high rise buildings
